Paul Lee shines as Team Japeth wins 2023 PBA All-Star Game in Iloilo City

Iloilo City, Philippines - The 2023 PBA All-Star Game held in Iloilo City was nothing short of exciting as Team Japeth emerged as the winners in a thrilling 140-136 victory over Team Scottie. The game, held at the City of Passi Arena, saw a packed crowd witness some of the country's best basketball players compete on the court.

Paul Lee, who had a great weekend, was named the game's Most Valuable Player after scoring 32 points, including seven four-pointers out of 13 shots. Lee's hot shooting in the first half from the special four-point line was instrumental in securing the win for Team Japeth, captained by the injured Japeth Aguilar.

Jamie Malonzo, RR Pogoy, and Calvin Oftana also played crucial roles in securing the victory for Team Japeth, who mounted a spirited comeback in the third quarter after Team Scottie took the lead. The fourth quarter saw a back-and-forth affair, with both teams executing crucial plays on offense and defense.

Team Scottie had a chance to end the game in a tie with a four-point shot, but CJ Perez and Scottie Thompson failed to convert their shots, prompting wild celebrations from Team Japeth. In addition to the win, Team Japeth also won the pregame dance-off, pocketing a total of P300,000.

Malonzo finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Pogoy also scored 20 points. Oftana added 16 points, and Chris Newsome fell short of a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists.

Kevin Alas led Team Scottie with 35 points, while Perez had 26 points and eight rebounds. Christian Standhardinger added 22 points and nine rebounds.

The scores after each quarter were 37-28, 74-65, 100-104, and 140-136 in favor of Team Japeth.

The consolation prize of P75,000 each for the game and the dance-off went to Team Scottie. Overall, the 2023 PBA All-Star Game in Iloilo City was a great success, with fans and players alike enjoying a night of great basketball and entertainment.
